LUNCH BREAK 1

Every day contains a story - even if it is only the story of how I bought my chicken mayo sandwich. The life of a writer is not always exciting. In fact, most days, lunch break is the highlight. Today I had a lot of writing work to catch up on so I decided not to waste time on cooking or sitting in a restaurant but to simply pop down the road to my favourite deli and pick up a sandwich.

You've read the book, now watch the movie here.

SUMMER SALAD

"Look at the way she’s scoffing that watermelon and feta.. that’s not going to attract a husband anytime soon." Gill D'achada - Cape to Cabernet

It's high summer here and everybody, but everybody, is scarfing watermelon. Summer and watermelons are Siamese twins in Cape Town, inseparable.

Don't you just love this? Simple, affordable, refreshing - the perfect Summer appetiser

CAFE MORO

"Mercy," he mumbled, "what the hell did you do to my French Roast?" - Patricia Briggs, Moon Called

When you grow up in South Africa you automatically ascribe greatness to the rest of the world. We must be 'less than' everywhere else. Surely. Imagine my surprise when I started trotting the globe and found that, well.. sorry about this.. Cape Town, my very own hometown, has better coffee-shops than just about any other city IN THE WORLD. Why is this important? Lawyers have courtrooms, doctors have consulting rooms, artists have studios and writers have coffee-shops. I know its a cliche but its a cliche that works for me. I spent time in one of my favourites today, Motherland Coffee in St George's Mall (CBD).
Only African coffees - superb!

Oasis in the City centre - love St George's Mall

mmmm iced espresso before meeting with publisher

check out my silk dress from Jigsaw, so glad the day was warm enough to wear it
Have a happy day.
